Alabama’s Frozen Tide Going To The Ship

By

The University of Alabama might be celebrating its third national championship in a 12 month period when the Alabama hockey team, known as the Frozen Tide (22-13), will be playing for a national championship in the American Collegiate Hockey Association national championship tournament in New Jersey.

From there the Tide which is the No. 3 seed there, will face Atlantic Regional No. 2 seed California University of Pennsylvania on March 14, North Regional No. 1 seed Hope College on March 15 and Pacific Regional No. 4 seed Cal State-Northridge on March 17.

Besides making the tournament for the first time, this is also special for the Tide because they lost two teammates over the past couple of years (one this season) and according to head coach Mike Quenneville who was quoted by the Shelby County Reporter as saying he didn't know how his team would react.

“My senior players this year have lost two teammates to death,” Quenneville said.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t know how the boys would react the season after one of their players was struck by that tragedy,” Quenneville said. “But this season has been real special. We are playing for him.”

We wish Coach Quenneville and his players luck in the championship tournament.
