Tragedy impacted the Alabama Crimson Tide last year in many ways.  One of the most heart wrenching involved Carson Tinker's girlfriend, Ashley Harrison, dying in the Tuscaloosa tornado last year.

As a native of Dallas Texas, the beautiful young Alabama student was remembered with a alumni scholarship fundraiser Friday. The scholarship will go to a North Texas high school senior who plans to also enroll at the University of Alabama.

Last year this event raised over $40,000, and there's hope that this year it will do the same to raise money in her name. The local University of Alabama North Texas alumni chapter put on the event one day prior to the big Alabama Michigan game there in Dallas, Texas.

It was held at the Gilley's Dallas restaurant. It's a wonderful cause and hopefully it did well. No word yet on how much money was raised.

Just Tuesday, Carson Tinker was honored with a scholarship by coach Nick Saban. Tinker had been a walk-on for three years for the Crimson Tide and was with Ashley Harrison when she died in the tornado.
