Tide Gymnast Has No Problem With UK
ByThe second ranked Alabama Gymnastics team had no problem with the Kentucky Wildcats Friday night winning 196.00 to 194.700.
The Tide (7-0, 4-0 in the SEC) was lead by junior Ashley Sledge who won the the all-around with a score of 39.175.
Bama won with its biggest margin of the season despite limited action from senior Ashley Priess who only particpated in two events because of illness.
“We were able to move some things around a little bit and still come out with a Southeastern Conference win,” said Tide head coach Sarah Patterson. “Now we just have to get on an emotional high again for Arkansas next week.”
The Tide posted its biggest scores of the night on vault and the floor exercise. The Tide posted a 49.1 on the vault led by a meet-best 9.9 from junior Marissa Gutierrez. Sledge posted a 9.875 on the floor exercise, leading the Tide to a 49.050 team score.
The Tide returns home next week to face Arkansas who at one point was the No. 1 team in the nation.
