An article put out by CBSSports.com has reported that Nick Saban wanted West Virginia in the SEC and he along with a senator from that state, was almost successful.

According to a story printed in the Charleston Daily Mail (West Va.) West Virginia senator Joe Manchin, who is also a West Virginia graduate, said he and Saban had spoken and "were working toward" snagging that invitation for the Mountaineers before the league settled on the Tigers. Both Saban and his wife Terry are West Virginia natives, and Saban spent two seasons in the late '70s as a defensive assistant for WVU.

But even Saban’s influence wasn’t enough to get the Mountaineers in as the Missouri Tigers would become the 14th team in the SEC.

A lot of commentators thought WVU would be more of a perfect fit for the SEC then Missouri, but those same experts thought the reason why the Tigers were picked over the Mountaineers is because of the larger television markets which would included the Kansas City and St. Louis markets.

Who do you guys think would have made the better fit; Missouri or West Virginia?
