Tide running back recruit T.J. Yeldon was named the state’s Mr. Football Wednesday by the Alabama Sports Writer Association.

Yeldon, was the first running back to be named Mr. Football since Etowah's Carnell Williams back in 2000. Yeldon rushed for 2,196 yards and scored 32 touchdowns on the season.

Yeldon enrolled at Alabama last week and according to Hueytown quarterback Jameis Winston who finished second behind Winston, he has been trying to sway Winston to come to Alabama.

"We don't even talk about football, for real, when he tries to recruit me to Alabama," Winston said, laughing. "He's been harassing me all the time."

Winston continued to say in the AL.com article, that it doesn’t bother him that Yeldon or recruits are trying to get him to switch his commitment, saying that he understands where they are coming from.
