Reports: Sal Sunseri Takes Tennessee Job, Thompson back with the Tide

By

It was reported Friday by GoVols24/7 and Izzy Gould of AL.com, that Sal Sunseri will be taking the defensive coordinator's position at Tennessee.

Although Sunseri's son Vinnie plays for the Tide, apparently the money that UT is offering was too much for Sunseri to turn down. According to Gould, Sunseri's salary will almost double. Sunseri, who was expected to make 400k this year, will make between $700-800,000 per year.

Sunseri was Alabama's assistant head coach, and linebackers coach last season. He joined the Tide staff in 2009 after seven seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Sunseri is considered one of top recruiters in the country. He was credited for bringing in big names like linebacker Trey DePriest and left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio.

Don't worry Tide fans, Vinnie Sunseri will not be joining his dad in Knoxville.

The surprise in all this is may be the return of Lance Thompson. Reports by ESPN say that Thompson will be returning to the Tide coaching staff after spending the last few years as an assistant at Tennessee.

I guess you can come home again.
