On the Road to the 14th National Championship: Game 5 Florida

Well now that Alabama took care of the Razorbacks, its next test would be against the Florida Gators or so we thought.

The Gators came into the game fired up and ready for the Tide. Florida would start the game with a huge touchdown pass from quarterback John Brantley and at one point lead the Tide 10-3, but the offense and defense would settle down and turn the game around. The Tide would tie the game up at 10 with a five yard touchdown run by Trent Richardson after a 70-yard punt return by Marquis Maze.

Courtney Upshaw would score on a Brantley interception to extend the Tide lead to 24-10

The defense would for the most part ended the Gators season by knocking out John Brantley with an ankle injury and effectively shutting the Gator offense down.

Touchdown runs by A.J. McCarron and runs by Richardson and Eddie Lacy, made the final score 38-10.

Richardson had a career high at the time of 181 yards rushing and two touchdowns. It wouldn’t be the last time Richardson would be breaking his career highs throughout the season.
