Mal Moore to be Inducted into Alabama Sports Hall of Fame

The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame announced yesterday that Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore, will be inducted in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

Moore has been associated with the Crimson Tide as a student-athlete, coach and administrator for more than 50 years.

“Having grown up in the State of Alabama, it's a tremendous honor to be selected to the Hall of Fame,” Moore said. “I am so proud and, frankly, a little bit overwhelmed. I am very proud not just for myself, but for my family. I have always been well aware of the Hall of Fame and the great people in it. So to be connected with it in this way is certainly very special.”
As a player, a coach, and administrator for the Alabama football, Moore has been part of eight national championship teams, 14 SEC Titles and 27 Bowl appearances. Alabama has won national titles in gymnastics, the men’s basketball team made their first appearance in the Elite Eight in 2004 and he hired Bama two African-American coaches in men’s and women’s basketball.
Also under Moore, there were SEC championships in also in gymnastics, men's basketball, women's golf, men's golf, men's cross country, baseball, and softball.

The 2012 Alabama Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will take place in the Birmingham Ballroom, at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel, on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
