Heisman Race Gets Interesting Again

By

After this past weekend’s games, not only did the BCS race tightened up, but so did the Heisman race.

Quarterback Andrew Luck of Stanford who had a HUGE lead going into to last week, but lost a lot of votes because of his performance against Oregon. Luck not had two interceptions, but his team got trounced 53-30.

Luck’s bad luck, opened the door for Trent Richardson again and especially for Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden.

Despite Weeden’s five touchdown performance against Texas Tech, Richardson is still second behind Luck and closing fast. Richardson had 127 yards and one touchdown against Mississippi State.

A lot of experts are saying that we my not know who the frontrunner is for the Heisman until the last week of the regular season.

Here is a list of where the top five Heisman candidates stand thus far:

Name 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Total
Andrew Luck QB Stanford 5 3 1 6 0 52
Trent Richardson RB Alabama 4 5 3 0 1 50
Brandon Weeden QB Ok.St. 6 2 1 2 0 45
Case Keenum QB Houston 0 2 4 3 5 31
LaMichael James RB Oregon 0 2 4 2 1 25
