When It Comes to Rematches, Saban is the King

If you ever wondered why Nick Saban is so good at “revenge games” because he learns from his mistakes; over the past few years Nick Saban is 13-1 in rematches.

The last time Saban lost back to back to a coach was Steve Spurrier in the 2000 and 2001 seasons, since then he has won 12 straight.

Coach Saban can say to the fans and the media that we all should just “chill out” but he obviously doesn’t. Saban posted a sign in the players’ lockers after the loss to Auburn last year “Never Again.”

And when he says that, he usually means it.

For example, in Saban’s first year at Alabama, he lost to Auburn and LSU that season; He lost to Auburn 17- 10 in his first Iron Bowl in 2007 and turned that into Alabama 36, Auburn 0 the next season.

That same year, Saban lost to Miles’ LSU team 41 to 34; Saban returned the favor by upsetting the Tigers the following year 27-21 in Baton Rouge.

And we all know what happened in the Florida game in 2008 in the SEC Championship Game; Florida 31, Alabama 20. Saban turned that into a victory (Alabama 32, Florida 13) in the 2009 SEC Championship Game.

So, the lesson to be learned here? Elephants don’t forget and neither does Nick Saban.
