When It Comes to Saban vs. Petrino, There is No Contest
ByThe talk of the Alabama-Arkansas game has been can Bobby Petrino finally beat Nick Saban?
Petrino obviously is one of the best coaches in the country, but as Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News and a few other websites pointed out today, Petrino is going to have to exercise his Saban demons before he can make it to the mountain top of college football.
Here are just a few facts that were brought up by Scarbinsky and by the website Saturday’s Down South about Petrino and his teams.
*Petrino of course we know is 0-3 against Saban and in the three losses to him; his team has average just 13.7 points per game.
*Petrino’s defenses have given up an average of 4,000 yards per season.
*Arkansas’ opponents have average 25.7 points per game since Petrino has been head coach.
Just a few facts to keep in mind when you are watching the game tomorrow; there is not doubt Petrino is one of the best offensive minds in the game, but that offense hasn’t been enough to propel them to a national championship.
If Petrino and the Hogs want to contend for the national championship, they have to get by Nick Saban first, and so far they haven't.
