#8 Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas (Prattville High School) is a 5-foot-10, 180 pound athlete with N.F.L. caliber speed. Published reports have Justin’s 40 yard dash times at the Nike combine as low as 4.21 and 4.25. During the 2010 season, Justin committed to Alabama over offers from Oregon and L.S.U., among many others.
Along with quarterback, Justin is listed as either an athlete or wide receiver by various recruiting publications. His ability to elude tacklers as Prattville’s quarterback, his performance in 7-on-7 camps this summer, and the fact that he will be one of the fastest players in the nation make him a prime candidate for kick returns and trick plays.
However, Alabama has reportedly recruited him as a quarterback all along. With two of its other quarterback prospects going elsewhere, his path toward the quarterback position seems straighter than ever.
Justin’s quarterback play is even more impressive given that the backup quarterback, Jalen Whitlow, has at least half a dozen offers from Division I schools. In other words, Justin isn’t just an athlete playing quarterback; he’s the real thing.
Justin leads a Prattville team that boasts at least 13 players who have Division I scholarship offers so far. Teammate Caleb Gulledge, a 6-foot-4, 250 pound defensive end, has also committed to join Justin in Tuscaloosa.
