Saban Talks Carter, Twitter and Sims
ByBefore Nick Saban even started with his weekly press conference, he made one thing clear: Don’t ask about Duron Carter.
As he put it to the press yesterday “You'll be the first to know when we get the information, if we get the information.”
Carter, who was supposed to start this past weekend for the Tide, has been sideline again for academic reasons. There seems to still be some hold up with Carter’s transcripts which most thought were cleared up a few weeks when Carter was allowed to finally practiced with the team.
Although he hasn’t started for the Tide yet, Carter has been tweeting his plight to the public on Twitter. When asked whether or not he approves of his players using Twitter, Saban said this:
“Our policy is we don't want guys to Twitter information about our team that creates an advantage for the other team. We monitor guys Twitter that could be personally damaging to them in the future. We don't have a policy against it.”
As far as Phillip Sims go, Saban basically said that Sims attitude is going to go a long way in determining his playing time.
“It's very important (attitude). That takes a tremendous amount of maturity that you are going to play the best at your position whatever situation you are in. ...We want you to be the best player you can be. It's just as hard for the backup right tackle to get ready to play,” Saban said.
“We want to play Phillip when we have opportunities to play him. We want to develop both quarterbacks. AJ made good throws. He didn't make the bad mistake. ...Phillip didn't get an opportunity.”
Here is Coach Saban's Press Conference on Monday.
