See Alabama's players back to work today getting ready for the BCS Championship game. Coach Saban said that the players were anxious to get back to work and had "good energy and enthusiasm in the work."

With the vigorous off-season workouts the players have undergone since the Auburn game, Coach Saban was concerned that the players might think that they can just pick up just where they left off 3 weeks ago. The truth is that they will have to get back to being in football shape. It’s a little different when you have shoulder pads and helmets on. So today, the team was in shells and tomorrow in pads.

In essence, they will have to get back, as Saban said it best, “Being, fundamentally, football players.”

Over 99.9% of all Alabama & Auburn fans are peace loving people, who just want to have a good time watching some football.

At the Iron Bowl this last weekend, that was on full display. It was a beautiful as well as a peaceful day to beat the Tigers!

In the video below, you can see the Alabama & Auburn fans chatting & being cordial and even the bands united to pay a touching tribute to the victims of Alabama’s tornados last spring.

Not much press goes out to the good in Alabama & Auburn's rivalry, but as the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words."

Forget Harvey Updyke’s tree poisoning or Finebaum’s banned Auburn caller who was elated that caller Shane Sez (who is a very outspoken Alabama fan) had lung cancer. Sure there is the crazy fringe like this in every fan base, but the vast majority of fans are very good people.

Today, in retirement, Coach DeBerry a respected coach & authority on football, he is offering his opinion on who should play in college football's biggest game.

Coach DeBerry is adamant about the fact that it "should be who we feel are the two best TEAMS" (emphasis his), regardless of conference play. He said he looks at who "week in and week out" are the best teams.

"It is clear in my mind that LSU right now should be the #1 team because they beat Alabama", Fisher then said, "yet Alabama is that (motioning with his finger close together) close to being number one. It would be an exciting national championship game."

We agree with you on this one coach!

Alabama's 5 star basketball phenom, Trevor Lacey (#3), practiced in the first scrimmage of the 2011-12 season. This video has highlights of what happened. He did ok, but he looked much like most new freshmen that step up to the next level. He had some issues in shot selection & play, but there were also some bright spots with a nice alley oop to a teammate, a steal, & a nice lay-up. However, he did not look spectacular in his initial practice.

The hype level on this kid was out of this world, so anything short of Michael Jordan-esque play is a let-down. Cutting the kid a break however, he has talent. There is no doubt there. He will grow and improve as he learns what is expected of him from his demanding coach, Anthony Grant.

I remember watching a young Latrell Sprewell back when he was in one of his first practices for Alabama. The scrimmage was actually in Gadsden. He looked like nothing special at the time, but eventually ended up being a first round NBA pick & All-Star (and a "thug" if you ask ex-Warriors coach P. J. Carlesimo). So you never know. He may be a future star. Time will tell. Right now, he's a freshman. Plain to see.

In the video below, you will see that Alabama is practicing hard to do everything right fundamentally & to maintain their physical stamina in this bye week.  The way Bama prepares for LSU is critical, because LSU is a formidable foe.  In fact, LSU is the only team in America that compares even remotely to Bama's dominance in the first half of the season.  Who wins this game will be the one who prepares the best (Bama of course!)

Anyway, check out the video, you can see the coaches jacking up players who fire off too fast or do things wrong.  They are coming back to do it again, and doing it right.

This game was a 48-17 victory for the Tide, and was the second win in a 10 win streak that ended the season. Bama's only loss that year was a 35-0 loss to Florida in the swamp. Of course, we all know what happened in 1992 with Deuce and crew.
