Based on a combination of these sources, ALCrimsonTide.com has developed the consensus list of the top 10 football recruits in Alabama.

Each day we will profile another of the top 10 players.

Although the top players in the state are highly coveted, this year’s class might not have the quantity of players that we often enjoy. It is interesting to note the number of out-of-state players that Alabama has pursued this year.

Tyler Nero (Escambia County High School), a 6-foot-2, 285 pound Auburn commitment who sports the perfect frame for a nose tackle. In 2010, Tyler had 19 tackles for loss, 72 tackles overall, and blocked 4 punts.

Among the 107,000 who attended Saturday’s Penn State/Alabama game was Tide and Nittany Lions recruit Kent Taylor from Land O’Lakes, FL.

The 6’5 220 pound tight end according to Rivals.com is the top tight end prospect in the country. Taylor listed Penn State, Alabama, Florida and Georgia as his top schools.

Taylor, who grew up in the Pennsylvania, is a Penn State fan, but said in the Birmingham News Sunday that he likes the way the Tide uses their tight ends and plans on making an official visit to Tuscaloosa in November for the LSU game.

He also plans on visiting the other schools as well. Right now, Taylor is on the bench for the next two to three weeks with a broken hand he sustained in the opening game of the season.

Former Alabama running back Corey Grant will be going to the sidelines of Alabama's most hatest rivals. It is being reported by AuburnSports.com that the former 4-star recruit will attend Auburn this summer. He will be considered a walk-on at Auburn and will have to sit out one year.

Grant said that he likes the Auburn offense better. He went on to say that he "felt like I would be a better fit at Auburn." Saban spoke 2 weeks ago saying that it was a "surprise" that Grant left Alabama.

Grant was part of Alabama's 2010 recruiting class. It is rare for players to switch from Alabama to Auburn or vice versa. Hopefully he won't go on to be a big star in the Iron Bowl someday. I really don't think it will happen though.

Ryan Kelley comes from Lakota West high school in West Chester, Ohio. Scout.com ranks him as the number two center in the nation.

The commitment by Mr. Kelly came after football camp in Tuscaloosa this summer. He is the second lineman to commit to the 2011 class following Isaac Luatua, a Scout.com 3-star offensive guard from Norwolks, California's La Mirada High School. Luatua is 6-foot-2, 299-pound lineman, of Samoan descent and according to rivals is the 8th ranked center prospect in the nation.

One of the things that Alabama's Joe Pendry most likely admires about these two young recruits is the fact that they can play multiple positions. There is a great upside for both on the offensive line. Alabama will most likely get a least two more offensive lineman prospects in this class.

One of the most highly sought after linebackers in the nation is also from the same state of Ohio and a five-star athlete. His name is Trey DePriest of Springfield High School in Ohio. He has Alabama in his top two choices of colleges along with Ohio State.

Ryan Kelley is the first Alabama commitment since last month's Vinnie Sunseri committed.

Kelly also had offers from Arizona, Boston College, North Carolina State, Louisville, Michigan State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Purdue, and Illinois. He initially leaned a bit toward Cincinnati, which was his parents’ alma mater, and was 20 minutes from home. However, he felt that Alabama was the best fit for his education and football career.

Alabama is definitely going more national this in attracting more top notch out-of-state recruits following the national championship.

News broke today that Blake Sims, who had decommitted from Alabama to go with the Tennessee Volunteers is now back in the 2010 Alabama recruiting class. Below are some highlights of this young football stud many are calling "Michael Vick Jr." (in a good way!)

He is a quarterback, but may be used in another position. When Blake called Nick Saban, Coach Saban welcomed Blake back into the family. As quarterback at Gainesville High School in Georgia, Sims is ranked the #28 athlete in the nation by Rivals.com.

One of the top prospects in the nation, Keenan Allen of Greensboro, North Carolina, committed to the  Crimson Tide following the Alabama/LSU game. He is the 22nd prospect to commit to the Tide's 22nd commitment in the recruiting class of 2010.  With only 27 spots, there are only 5 more spots.

Rated by Rivals as the #1 Safety prospect in the nation, and  #4 by Scout, there is word from Rivals that Keenan said that Bama intends to use him as a wide receiver.  He said Saban wants to force teams to pick him or Julio to have to double cover, leaving one of them in single coverage.  Saban overjoyed, welcomed him into the Alabama family and told him to get ready to "go to work."
 
One of the opposing coaches of Keenan Allen said that he didn't think that "there's a better athlete in the county other than Keenan Allen."

Do you wonder about the assistant coaches that think they are better recruiters than Saban?  Many, like Thompson at Tennessee only to find out Saban plugs new assistant coaches into his recruiting system and keeps chugging along.  Saban knows recruiting.  No doubt about it.

Alabama's backup linebacker, Jerrell Harris, will be back after a six-game suspension.  He will be back to play for the South Carolina game on October 17, meaning that he will miss the next two games against Kentucky and Ole Miss.  Alabama has been waiting for the NCAA to announce its ruling about Jarrell receiving impermissible benefits, allegedly a laptop computer from a third party. 

Jerrell Harris was a 4-star linebacker recruit (according to Rivals) out of Gadsden Alabama last year.  Harris provides depth at linebacker that is even more valuable now than the linebacker corps is without Dont'a Hightower. Hightower was lost due to a season-ending knee injury this last weekend.
