See Alabama's players back to work today getting ready for the BCS Championship game. Coach Saban said that the players were anxious to get back to work and had "good energy and enthusiasm in the work."

With the vigorous off-season workouts the players have undergone since the Auburn game, Coach Saban was concerned that the players might think that they can just pick up just where they left off 3 weeks ago. The truth is that they will have to get back to being in football shape. It’s a little different when you have shoulder pads and helmets on. So today, the team was in shells and tomorrow in pads.

In essence, they will have to get back, as Saban said it best, “Being, fundamentally, football players.”

Yes, you have heard right. Jim McElwain is taking the job that is being offered at Colorado State. This is according to reports among multiple other media outlets in both Colorado and Alabama (including TideSports).

Some reports are saying he will earn 1.5 million per year for 5 years. Do you blame the guy? That is great money considering he ONLY made $500K/yr at Bama.

Anyway... This really should not be much of a surprise to any Alabama fan that has been listening to the latest news surrounding the Tide's offensive coordinator in the last few days. After being courted by Memphis, Fresno State; the sweet spot for McElwain is the Colorado State Rams.

As for how he will handle "Game of the Century II", we will most likely find out this morning in the press conferences of both schools.

Coach Saban, according to a twitter report by Bama beat writer Izzy Gould, has already met with staff concerning the change of events.

It is hard to know what will happen. He may stay until he can finish the year out by calling the offensive plays in the title game. Then again, he may feel like he needs to depart to start preparing for the task at hand.

Most Bama fans will have to agree that it will be hard to see McElwain leave with the offensive success we have seen in his tenure, however I suspect that Saban had a very keen part in how the offensive plays were called. Saban will simply plug in another offensive coordinator who will eventually look like an offensive genius. It is the Saban system... Pure and simple. He makes coaches.

In fact, Coach Saban loves to see his staff eventially move on to bigger and better things. He is one coach who loves to mentor and give a hand up in the coaching business. He remembers where he came from as a coaching assistant to now being the top coach in America.

Like it or not, Alabama will be replacing McElwain for another offensive coordinator next season. Saban will vet the best and brightest. It will be refreshing to see if it will be a simple plug-in or Saban will allow some new twists in the offense. A little more spice, some more passing, or whatever. If nothing else, it will be a new face for our offense to work for.

I don't expect this to affect recruiting or the process in anyway at Alabama. Coach Saban has everything under control and always plans ahead.

Lets just hope this is not a distraction in the preparations for the title game. We need to stay focused as a team.

The kid is dang good as you can tell from the video. He was 1st Team All-American at Liberty University. In fact, it is very apparent that he can throw a spiral between his legs and behind him much better than Clint Mosely or Kyle Frazier can over the shoulder (especially with Upshaw and friends coming at them!)

Anyway, I hope Coach Saban gives him a chance. He's good!

Alabama fans who were lucky enough to get a seat in Jordan Hare to witness the ultimate butt kicking of the series, 42-14, broke out in an awesome rendition of Rammer Jammer & Yea Alabama! Watch it and enjoy!

Over 99.9% of all Alabama & Auburn fans are peace loving people, who just want to have a good time watching some football.

At the Iron Bowl this last weekend, that was on full display. It was a beautiful as well as a peaceful day to beat the Tigers!

Not much press goes out to the good in Alabama & Auburn's rivalry, but as the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words."

Forget Harvey Updyke’s tree poisoning or Finebaum’s banned Auburn caller who was elated that caller Shane Sez (who is a very outspoken Alabama fan) had lung cancer. Sure there is the crazy fringe like this in every fan base, but the vast majority of fans are very good people.

Today, in retirement, Coach DeBerry a respected coach & authority on football, he is offering his opinion on who should play in college football's biggest game.

Coach DeBerry is adamant about the fact that it "should be who we feel are the two best TEAMS" (emphasis his), regardless of conference play. He said he looks at who "week in and week out" are the best teams.

"It is clear in my mind that LSU right now should be the #1 team because they beat Alabama", Fisher then said, "yet Alabama is that (motioning with his finger close together) close to being number one. It would be an exciting national championship game."

We agree with you on this one coach!

JaMychal Green has looked impressive in the off-season in playing for USA Basketball in the World University Games. This summer, Green came in second on the team in scoring with 12.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as the squad played to a 7-1 record. He lost 17 pounds in the off-season, so look for him to be able to run the floor better and have more endurance.

The ladies team is expected by many to be the best that Wendell Hudson has had since he first became the ladies head coach in 2007. Led by senior leader Ericka Russell, the Tide ladies look to improve mightily this year. Hudson said one of the keys to successful recruiting as of late came from the impact of Nick Saban on the program. Coach Saban has went over and beyond his call of duty to meet the recruits and spend time with them. Hudson indicated that Alabama has signed three junior college All-Americans for instant impact, and two of them were on a 32-1 championship team last year, and another player was on a national championship team in junior college. So there is proven winners in place this year to take Alabama's ladies basketball to a new level of play.

Looking forward to seeing both teams take it to the hoops.

Rashad Johnson picked off 3 interceptions, and Alabama's #1 ranked squad beat LSU in overtime. John Parker Wilson had the quarterback sneak in overtime that sealed the deal in Baton Rouge. Julio burned LSU on the goal line with a tightrope catch.
