Green To Play Today Against State

By

Tide head coach Anthony Grant announced yesterday during his weekly press conference that JaMychal Green will be available today for the Mississippi State game, whether or not he starts today Grant didn't say, but at some point, he will play.

"He'll be available," Grant said. "We'll make some determinations based on how practice goes But he'll most likely be dressed and available."

It's a good thing he is available, because the Tide mostly likely will be without the services of Trevor Lacey who suffered an ankle injury in Thursday night's win over Arkansas. Although there was no further damage, he probably will not play today.

"He just has to manage the swelling and the pain," Grant said. "Right now he's listed as doubtful."

Mississippi State which has lost several games in a row, might be without one of their starters freshman Rodney Hood who averages 11 points per game. Hood reportedly suffered a deep bone bruise in their loss to Kentucky.

The Bulldogs (19-9, 6-7) need this game badly if they still want to make the NCAA Tournament. Right now they are a game behind Alabama, LSU and Tennessee for fourth place in the SEC.

If Mississippi State loses today, they are all but out of the NCAA Tournament, a Tide victory will probably seal up their place in the NCAA Tournament.

Tip-Off of tonight's contest will be 5pm on ESPN. Some student tickets are still available.
