Sad News, UAB’s Legendary Coach Gene Bartow Dies At 81

College Basketball Hall of Fame Coach, Gene Bartow, died Tuesday at the age of 81. He was the man that started Alabama-Birmingham's (UAB) athletic program. He succombed to stomach cancer according to UAB officials. He coached also at UCLA following the legendary John Wooden and also at Memphis State. He led UCLA to Final Four, Memphis State to Finals, & took UAB to 7 consecutive NCAA tournaments.

Overall,he had one of the winningest records in NCAA Division I basketball history with 647 wins in over 34 seasons. below is a video of his induction into the C. Basketball HOF. Later in his career, he became athletic director of UAB & also became company president of company that owns the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies as well as the FedEx Forum. He was a class act, and we wish to send our condolences to his family.
