Bama Obliterates Chattanooga 49-0, Auburn Next

By

It was a cold day down in Tuscaloosa yesterday as far as the weather goes, but the Tide wasn't.  After a slow start, Bama cruised to an easy victory over the Chattanooga Mocs.

The game did not start out well for the Tide as Christion Jones fumbled the first punt and the Tide was stopped on fourth down on its second drive.  From there, Bama rolled.

AJ McCarron played a little over a half and completed 13-for-16 passes for a total of 171 yards.  However, one of the biggest highlights of his career happened on one of his shortest passes.  He completed a 3 yard pass to his brother, Corey McCarron.  It was Corey's first reception for the Crimson Tide.  He was a transfer fromSouth Alabama.  Their mother Dee Dee Bonner looked on as it was senior day for the Tide.

AJ's favorite target all day was fellow senior Kevin Norwood, who caught four catches for 84 yards and a TD.

TJ Yeldon and several starters were rested as the younger players received more playing time.  Freshman Derrick averaged 11 yards a run for the day as he got 66 yards.  Cornerback Maurice Smith started in place of Deion Belue.  Freshman A'Shawn Robinson chipped in with a blocked field goal to preserve the victory.

Leading tacklers were CJ Mosley & Landon Collins with 7 tackles.

Overall the game was a good warm up for the big showdown next Saturday with the resurgent Auburn Tigers in Jordan Hare.  The build is beginning as the RV's fill the hay fields inAuburn.  The game will determine the SEC West winner, the first time that this has happened in Iron Bowl history.

Can't wait...
