LSU/Alabama Preview

By

Welcome to the Game of the Century part III or as we like to call it, the Alabama/LSU game.

This game in the last few years has decided national champions and this year is no different. Despite losing a game to the Florida Gators, the LSU Tigers managed to beat the South Carolina Gamecocks and jumped back up to No. 5 in the country.

They come into this game as the underdog and for good reason. As with last year, the Tigers have a very good defense and a terrible offense.

LSU's defense ranks right up there with the Tide as one of the best in the country. Unfortunately, their offense is almost dead last again ranking 105 in total offense.

Zach Mettenberger was supposed to be a "difference maker" this year. But, either Les Miles hasn't turned him loose yet or Mettenberger is overrated. Either way, the LSU offense is basically, terrible.

The only bright spot for the Tigers is their running game which is ranked 25th in the country averaging just over 200 yards per game. But the Tigers are going to need more then their running game if they expect to win this game.

Mettenberger is going to have to step up his game to at least give LSU a chance in this one. The LSU defense will have to continue to play the way they are accustomed to playing in order to keep them in this game.

Alabama, on the other hand, will also have to play as they normally play, mistake free. The LSU pass rush will surely put pressure on AJ McCarron and test his command of the game.

The Tide's defense will have to force Mettenberger into mistakes. Which hopefully, those mistakes, will turn into points for the Tide. Points, as we have seen in the last few contests, will be at a premium.

Emotions will be high and revenge will be on LSU's mind, but in the end, the Tide will win in a close one.
