Tide Wins With Workman Like Performance

By

Nick Saban warned us. He told us that this game would be tougher then we as fans, media and even the players thought. Even though the Tide won easily over Western Kentucky 35-0, it wasn't pretty and it was more like a workman like performance at least for the offense.

Although quarterback AJ McCarron did throw for over 200 yards and four touchdowns, he was sacked six times which did not sit well with center Barrett Jones.

"We learned that any time we don't bring our best, we're pretty average," said Jones.

The Hilltoppers also held the Alabama running backs in check as well only allowing one touchdown to them and that was at the end of the game.

As for the defense, they had three turnovers Saturday which helped the offense and seem to settle down after the first quarter when the WKU's offense was moving the ball early on.

The good thing about this is that Coach Saban can use this as a learning tool to get ready for Arkansas next week which lost to LA Monroe.

One more note from the game, running back Jalston Fowler was injured. He'll have an MRI Monday. No word from UA on what kind of injury it could be.
