Notes From The Nick Saban Press Conference

By

After the Tide’s first workout in pads yesterday, Coach Nick Saban addressed the media.

Here are just a few tidbits from his news conference.

After Tuesday’s practice the coach said he was “pleased” but not “satisfied” with his team yet.

As far as the players go, Saban singled out quarterback AJ McCarron and offensive lineman DJ Fluker as “great leaders” and he also singled out freshmen running back T.J. Yeldon and wide receiver Amari Cooper for “doing a really good job.”

Yeldon who will more then likely be the back-up to Eddie Lacy this season, has gotten a lot of praise from the coaching staff since the spring.

Saban called Jesse Williams the most “underrated” player on last year’s defense.

Saban talked about a few injuries Tuesday particularly about wide receiver Chris Black who has a shoulder injury after he had gotten hit from linebacker Ryan Anderson on Sunday. Black was to be reevaluated last night, but Saban said he is still “very questionable.”

Saban wrapped up his news conference chatting about his social media policy with players and some recruiting questions, but not about one particular player.
