Grant: ReleFord and Steel Back-Green and Mitchell Still out

By

jamychal greenAlabama head coach Anthony Grant said in his press conference this afternoon that Andrew Steele and Trevor Releford would be back for the Florida game, JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell will remain suspended.

Some thought that Grant would make an announcement about the players at the SEC teleconference this morning, but Grant waited until this afternoon to make the announcement.

Cecil Hurt did an interesting piece in Tidesports.com on Grant's decision and quoted him on why he made that choice.

"We're dealing with young men here. I was a college student, and not every choice I made as a college student was always the right choice. But the thing that is most disappointing is how their choices affected so many other people: their teammates, their loved ones and all the people out there who love the University of Alabama.

"As a coach, I'm disappointed, but I take responsibility for these young men," he said.

Without Releford, Green, Mitchell, and Steele, Bama lost to LSU Saturday 67-58. The Tide was down by 15 at the half, but bounced back to cut the lead to single digits in the second half but just fell short.

"Dealing with 18 or 22 year olds, so whether it is year one of my tenure or year three or whatever year it is, you have to deal with it."

Tip-off  against Florida is 6pm Tuesday night on ESPN.
