Tide Faces Young Georgia Team

By

After the Tide's 73-48 victory over Georgia Tech, they (11-3) will go to Athens and start the SEC season against the Georgia Bulldogs (9-5).

The Bulldogs, who have won five straight games, are seeking a little bit of revenge against the Tide. At the end of last season, the Tide had defeated the Bulldogs in back-to-back games to end the season.

The Tide has seemly gotten back on track after struggling in the middle of their non-conference schedule. In their last three games, the Tide has defeated opponents by double-digits; two of those three wins were without JaMychal Green who returned for the game against Georgia Tech.

Trevor Releford has led Bama in scoring the last three games almost averaging 20 points a game moving his season average to 12.4 points a game, while Tony Mitchell continued his hot shooting averaging 15 points a game.

Georgia relies heavily on Ken Caldwell-Pope and Gerald Robinson who lead the Bulldogs in scoring. Caldwell-Pope are netting 14.1 ppg to go along with 5.3 rpg and 23 steals, while Gerald Robinson posts 13.8 ppg to accompany his 3.3 apg.

Like Bama, the Bulldogs rely on their defense to carry them, allowing opponents just 40 percent shooting from the floor and just a shade over 61 points a game. But unlike Bama at least in recent games, the Bulldogs only score 63 points a game.

The Tide has not only gotten more production from the inside from Mitchell and Green, but has seen the emergence of Trevor Lacey with help from Releford from the three-point line. If the Tide continues its hot shooting, they should have no problem with the young Bulldogs tonight.
