Davidson Lineman Alphonse Taylor Switches to Alabama

By

Alabama got another commitment as Davidson lineman Alphonse Taylor who was a Florida State recruit, has now switched to Alabama and will enroll next month.

Davidson head coach Fred Riley has a policy with his football players telling them not to commit unless they meant it.

“We should change the language,” Riley said. “It's really not a commitment. All they did was announce who the front-runner was at that moment.”

But Riley said to AL.com he understood why Taylor changed his mind; peer pressure.

A number of Bama commits played in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game which played a part in why Taylor switched to Alabama.

“They spent a week with him and had a great influence on him,” Riley said. “I don't think he would've flipped if he hadn't spent that week in Montgomery. Those kids bond. I think that nudged him in a direction he was already thinking about.”

The coach didn’t sound too pleased with Taylor’s decision because of his policy, but said he will support Taylor’s decision to switch schools although the kid won’t have his moment in the sun to make his announcement because of this policy.
