When Nick Saban said “Never Again” to his players after last year’s Iron Bowl, the coach meant it.

The Crimson Tide dominated the Auburn Tigers and won the 76Th Iron Bowl 42-14. The Tide jumped on the Tigers early and never looked back.

The Tide took an early 7-0 lead on a flea flicker pass from quarterback AJ McCarron to wide receiver Kenny Bell for 41-yards. After a bad punt by Auburn, McCarron would throw a 35-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brad Smelley to make the score 14-0 Bama.

Auburn would try to get back in the ballgame with a fumble recovery near the endzone to make the score 14-7, but McCarron would throw his third touchdown pass of the day to Trent Richardson to make the score 21-7. Bama would kick a field goal and just like last year, the Tide would lead 24-7 at the half.

But unlike last year, there was no comeback for Auburn. The Tigers would get the ball in the beginning of the second half and would score on a 83-yard kick off return to cut the lead to 10, but now it was the defenses turn to score.

The Tide would kick a field goal and Dee Milliner would return a Clint Moseley interception back for a touchdown. After a two-point conversion, the Tide would lead 35-14. The Tide would close out the scoring with Jalston Folwer scoring from 15 yards out, after a Trent Richardson 57-yard run to make the final score 42-14.

To say the Bama defense was dominate; would be an understatement. Until the fourth quarter, the Tide defense held Auburn to just two first downs and 44 yards in total offense. They made the Tiger’s quarterbacks miserable the whole afternoon. The defense even scored more points (seven) then the Auburn offense.

Trent Richardson was well, Trent Richardson. He had 203 yards rushing and made his case for why he is the best player in America.

After this performance, the Tide guaranteed itself another BCS Bowl in New Orleans; they’ll know for sure next week if it will be for the BCS Title Game or for the Sugar Bowl.
