Tide Has No Problem with North Texas

By

It may have taken a minute of two for the Crimson Tide running game to get in gear, but when it did it was all over for the Mean Green as the Tide defeated North Texas 41-0.

The Tide was lead by the running of both Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy. Both Richardson and Lacy had over a160 yards a piece running the football.

Richardson would end up with the largest run of the night with 71 yards and the most touchdowns with three silencing the critics who thought he may have lost a step or two.

It wasn’t all good news for the Tide O-line. Although AJ McCarron looked pretty good tonight (15-20, 190 yards), he did fumble once and was sacked four times.

But overall, it was a dominating performance on both sides of the ball for the Tide. The defense held North Texas to 167 yards in total offense and the second team defense preserved the shut out when North Texas was in the red zone at the end of the game.

One injury to report tonight, Robert Lester left the game with back spasms, but the injury doesn’t seem to be serious at this point.

Now, play time is over and it’s time for conference play as the Tide welcomes the Arkansas Razorbacks next Saturday 2:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Meanwhile, Arkansas struggled tonight against Troy giving up almost 400 yards passing to Troy qb Corey Robinson who also threw for three touchdowns.

Rumor has it since both teams are undefeated coming into this contest, that ESPN’s Game Day will make an appearance for the first time this year in Tuscaloosa; hopefully, it won’t be their last.
